  • Carlos De Uriarte has been selected by Aeromexico, Mexico’s largest airline, as West Coast Regional Director of its U.S. Division. He will direct the commercial service strategies for the airline’s six West Coast and Midwest region gateways in the United States.
  • Fernando Hernandez has been named as Senior Vice President, Multicultural & Diversity Strategy for Washington Mutual, Inc. (NYSE:WM). In this role, Hernandez is responsible for overseeing a comprehensive company strategy that further embraces diversity.

Argentina to Borrow From Venezuela
Argentina will borrow $196 million from President Nestor Kirchner's home province of Santa Cruz and Venezuela after refusing to pay the yields investors demanded in a debt auction last month.


Landslides Kill 23 in El Salvador
Heavy rains triggered landslides that killed at least 23 people in El Salvador, while rising rivers forced the evacuation of dozens of people there and in neighboring Guatemala.


Brazil close to deal on AIDS drugs
Brazil, which provides free AIDS treatment to all who need it, is close to reaching a deal with U.S. pharmaceutical company Abbott Laboratories that would nearly halve the price it pays for the AIDS drug Kaletra.
